SKEET FIELDS

Pittsburgh's premier skeet facility is located here at Library Sportsmen's Association

The skeet fields are open to practice daily at 10:00 am

WE HAVE TWO NEWLY RE-BUILT REGULATION SKEET FIELDS WITH NEW LED LIGHTING.

Over the last few years Library Sportsmen’s Association has undertaken several major improvement projects and the Skeet fields are one of them. Our Skeet fields were at least 60 years old and in need of extensive repairs.

After taking a closer look, it was discovered that the fields were not level or to regulation dimensions. It was going to take a considerable amount of excavation to make them meet regulation. The leadership of LSA collectively decided that repairs weren’t going to be good enough and it was time to start from scratch. It was decided to demo the fields completely, and put them back completely new. It was time to break ground, almost!

Our Skeet Chairman, John Avolio, was new in his role as Skeet Chairman at LSA but not new to Skeet shooting at all. John had been actively involved at other clubs, has shot Skeet all over the country and has seen many Skeet fields. John immediately got involved with the project and had several conversations with Bob Englert and the LSA leadership. John wanted to redesign the target houses to make them easier to load and easier to maintain. John had great ideas, we just needed to find ways to implement them. Nobody likes delays, but back to the drawing board we went.

John and Bob had countless discussions over ideas and designs. Some of those changes were even made during construction. The redesign added time and expense but the end result is target houses with doors big enough to allow targets to be loaded with a tractor, roofs that can’t be seen or damaged from shooting and steps that are inside so they don’t require winter maintenance.

LSA is grateful to have John Avolio as part of the leadership team. John is always willing to teach a new shooter or help an experienced shooter get better. John’s tireless dedication to this project and LSA’s Skeet program is in large part why our Skeet fields are spectacular! Come out and shoot some

Skeet!

Members are reminded that for Skeet there is no shooting before 10:00 AM daily. Please refer to your By-laws book for a complete list of range rules.
